Several flights were delayed at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Monday afternoon and evening due to a shortage of Nav Canada air traffic controllers and other operational constraints.
A traffic management initiative (TMI) was implemented to control airport congestion caused by high traffic volume, construction, and limited staff. Some flights, like Air Canada 599 from L.A., were delayed by two hours.
Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their airline before heading to the airport.
