Valve Corporation, the owner of Steam, is facing a £656 million lawsuit in the UK. The accusation: using its market villain powers to overcharge 14 million British gamers. Vicki Shotbolt, a digital rights hero, claims Valve is "rigging the market" and forcing game publishers to keep prices high. With commissions up to 30%, it seems like Steam is making it rain money, but not exactly in gamers' pockets. The class action lawsuit, filed in London, aims to stop this "unlawful conduct" and give gamers back what they're owed. Meanwhile, Steam continues to sell games like hotcakes, with over $9 billion in revenue in 2023. Game over for fair prices, it seems!
